About

How it all began

You might say I followed the standard corporate career path.

I graduated with a degree in International Business from the University of Maastricht, the Netherlands. Armed with a desire to climb the corporate career ladder, I started my career as an auditor in one of the Big 4 firms. Simultaneously, I completed the postgraduate program for chartered accountant.

After a decade, I continued my career in finance in a large multinational company. I successfully made my way to a senior leadership position, where I was heading the global internal control department.

Throughout my career I always had a passion for people.

I was happy to learn that the coach training program also included personal coaching, because I started to realize I was living in two worlds. One world was my career. It was a world in which I felt successful, enjoyed what I was doing, held a senior leadership position, and worked with many inspiring people globally.

My other world was at home, where I often felt powerless. Finding my way to raise my daughter, who is a special needs child, was very challenging and my role as caregiver was taking a lot of my energy.

For a long time I had been thinking that my work was energizing me and compensating in a way for the energy that was draining at home. I hoped that the coach training program would help me to cope with these energy drains, so I could feel more successful at work and at home.

At the same time, I constantly felt I was living in two worlds.

A year later I got certified as a coach at iPEC (the institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching), became an Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner, and later also an Associated Certified Coach at the ICF (International Coaching Federation).

I used my coaching skills in my leadership role every day. To me it was very rewarding to bring out the best in others and soon my mantra became: “The most meaningful way to succeed is to help others succeed.”

But what happened was… day one into the program I had found my passion in coaching!

Intuitively I also knew that this wasn’t where my story ends!

Despite enjoying coaching while being a corporate senior leader, I started to feel a sense of unfulfillment as there were many aspects of the job that weren’t very appealing to me anymore.

While another cycle of deadlines was coming up and emails kept coming in 24/7 from across the globe, I started dreaming about having freedom of time, energy and focus granted by running my own coaching business.

Truth is I was scared to change course completely from a corporate finance career to being an entrepreneur.

In the middle of the corporate quarterly reporting cycle, I received a call from my daughter’s school asking for my help because she was having a severe meltdown. I jumped into my car and went to school quickly, where I saw her being completely overwhelmed and anxious.

When I finally got her calmed down and arrived back home, I had only ten minutes left before dialing in to an online meeting with our CFO in which I had to present the company’s quarterly internal control results.

Until one day the turnaround point came…

It took a lot of courage, but I took this as a sign from the universe to take the leap and change course. (And perhaps if you are reading this… this is your sign.)

Soon I left my corporate career.

In that specific moment, I realized I was one person, having one life. And I decided, I no longer wanted to live in two worlds.

Things started to turn around from that moment onwards.

Today I am enjoying coaching clients from across the globe.

I partner with corporate senior leaders on career topics, building on my skills and expertise as a former leader, a “career switcher” and a people person.

  • I feel blessed to spend sufficient time with my family each day.

  • I experience more balance and harmony in my day-to-day life.

  • I am full of energy and motivated to start my working day every morning.

  • I feel blissed with my decision to follow my passion and turn my coaching dream into reality.

  • I enjoy being an entrepreneur. Yes, with all the ups and downs it brings. It is all part of the experience!

But more importantly…

Birds
    • Work with me if you are not only looking for knowledge and expertise, but you want support from someone who will empower you, hold you accountable, truly listens to you, and cares about you, but also kicks your ass when needed!

    • Coaching with me is for you if you are willing to invest your time, money and energy into transitioning to the career and life you are dreaming of.

    • I am an associated certified coach and energy leadership master practitioner with a sound experience in the corporate world, where I worked for almost two decades in various finance & accounting roles and held senior leadership positions.

    • In addition, I am a Supervisory Board member and Audit Committee member for several non-profit organizations.

    • I partner with corporate senior leaders all over the world, helping them lead with confidence and transition to their dream career, using my 4 C’s signature methodology named the “Dream Career Coaching Program”.

    • I am a people person and enjoy social interaction, but also love me-time occasionally.

    • Lover of a good latte in the morning and a glass of wine on the weekend.

    • Outside work I love spending time with friends and family, ideally over a cozy dinner or drinks. You will also find me walking in town or in nature, reading inspiring books, and practicing yoga.

    • My passion – next to coaching - is traveling. Whether it is a city trip with friends, a family holiday to the beach or exploring other cultures in far destinations. Plus, I love to make and share pictures of my travels!

    • I live with my husband, daughter, and son in Den Bosch, The Netherlands. Love the city life, but also enjoy being in our holiday home in a forest area once in a while. PS: I use the place for coaching, too!
